Columbus Marathon Training: Week 2

June 22-28, 2015
This was admittedly a pretty sad week of training.¬† ūüė¶¬† I wasn’t feeling very well at the beginning of the week, then we had family visiting for a big festival that ended up getting pretty washed out with rain, so my own calendar was just off all week!

Monday:
DOR – Sick
Tuesday: 1.5 mile walk – usually this is the day that I have Spin class, but I was able to get in to my dr’s office for an appointment, so I managed to fit in some activity in the evening.
Wednesday:¬† Jillian Michaels’ 30 Day Shred DVD
Thursday: 4 mile run
Friday: DOR – Festival
Saturday: DOR РFestival
Sunday:  DOR РFestival

I’m not one to complain, but last week was a DOOZY.¬† I started off the week not feeling great, but was really looking forward to the festival over the weekend.¬† It’s a big city wide festival with food, art, and lots of music.¬† It’s a great time to sit outside, listen to local bands, and enjoy a plastic mug full o’beer.

I volunteered on Friday, and by the time I was finished, it was raining, with no sign of letting up.¬† We met BF’s family and took them to a friend’s house, but eventually the entire festival was shut down for the day so that night was done.¬† On Saturday, we grabbed lunch and then I discovered that I had a flat tire! Booooooooo.¬† Spent a couple hours dealing with that, and then by the time we got to the festival, it was windy and chilly and eventually it was just too cold to be fun anymore!¬† So we packed up and went back to our friends’ and ordered pizza.¬† Sunday turned in to a beautiful day, though, and I managed to push 3 days of festival fun all in to the 6 hours we were there.¬† I had a blast, but I was feeling the after effects yesterday and it was exhausting….

BUT I am so ready to be back on track, it’s not even funny.¬† But guess what IS funny?¬† The fact that my birthday is tomorrow, and the 4th of July is Saturday, and I am on staycation all next week.¬† I would really like to give myself the gift of starting to lose the weight that has been creeping back on recently, so I am going to spend as much time as I can next week really focusing on what is holding me back.

Columbus Marathon Training: Week 1

Columbus Marathon Training: Week 1

June 15-21, 2015
Bring on Full Marathon number three ~ training has begun! ¬†I am also combining this with sort of “thrown together” training for RnR Chicago ~ I’m running the 5k on Saturday, July 17 ¬†and the Half Marathon on Sunday.

Monday:
DOR (a great way to start a training week!)
Tuesday: Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred
Wednesday:  1.7 mile walk with the walking group I started at work.
Thursday: 3 mile run with a new to me group.
Friday: DOR Рwas not feeling good all day, took a nap and rested all day.
Saturday: DOR Рhad to work and did not get a workout in.
Sunday:  Long run Р8 miles (6 with running group/2 solo)

My non-schedule half marathon training is working out sort of weird.¬† I have been running 2-3x a week and trying to get other activity in, but over the past few weeks, my schedule or sickness or dr’s visits have been altering my¬† routine.¬† I am doing my best to remain flexible and also listen to my body when I need a break!

Food and Fitness Plan 2015 Week 24

FINALLY a “normal” work week ahead, and I got to plan our meals and grocery shop this morning. ¬†I am hoping to stay on track, my weekend was totally derailed. ¬†Lots of activity but also lots of indulgence.

Monday: Banh Mi Bowls with leftover chicken (I think I need to write up my own version of this recipe, it’s turned out great twice)
Tuesday: Chipotle Mac & Cheese and a kale quinoa salad
Wednesday: Pork tenderloin with peach rosemary jam and roasted vegetables
Thursday: Refried bean tostadas
Friday: TBD (perhaps Fake Shake Shack burgers?)
Saturday: TBD (working)
Sunday:  TBD (working) (perhaps Chicken Parmesan Meatloaf Muffins)

Fitness
Monday: DOR
Tuesday: Spin
Wednesday: Evening Fartlek workout (it’s been awhile since I did any speedwork)
Thursday: Yoga @ Gym
Friday: Easy run 4-5 miles
Saturday: Walk at lunch (working)
Sunday: 6 mile long run (working)
