F^3 (x2) Half Marathon Training: Week 3 Reality

Here’s how I did over the holiday week…

Monday = 25 minutes of cross training + some weights DONE.
Tuesday = Planned 4 miles for final Six Drumsticks Run NOT DONE.  I got so sick and felt nauseous all day.  Thought I had food poisoning!
Wednesday = Planned DOR ~ Travel Day 2.3 Miles DONE.  Since I had to skip my 4 miles Tuesday, I got out a quick run around the neighborhood.
Thursday = Planned 5 Miles ~ Thanksgiving Turkey Trot. DONE in 51:17!  Race Recap to come!
Friday = Yoga (?) If I have room in my suitcase for bricks…  Or I might see if I can get in to dad’s gym in which case, elliptical time!  NOT DONE.  Friday was a DOR.  Did some shopping, then met up with some friends in the evening.
Saturday = Planned 6 Miles ~ Needs to be early because kick-off is at NOON.  GO BUCKS!  Ran around OSU Campus and the stadium!  GREAT run.
Sunday = Planned 3 Miles NOT DONE.  Too much going on on Sunday.

Had a great visit, but ate completely out of control.  And then got anxious about having no control.  Hoping to have a more solid plan at Christmas.  I am happy with what I did do, though.  Sorry to have missed a CARA run this weekend, and another because of the upcoming Santa Hustle, but I am trying my best to stick to a plan!

F^3 (x2) Half Marathon Training: Week 3 Plan

We’re coming up on the holiday, so I want to map out a pre-plan for the week!

Monday = 25 minutes of cross training + some weights (done in fitness center today)
Tuesday = Planned 4 miles for final Six Drumsticks Run
Wednesday = Planned DOR ~ Travel Day
Thursday = Planned 5 Miles ~ Thanksgiving Turkey Trot
Friday = Yoga (?) If I have room in my suitcase for bricks…  Or I might see if I can get in to dad’s gym in which case, elliptical time!
Saturday = Planned 6 Miles ~ Needs to be early because kick-off is at NOON.  GO BUCKS!
Sunday = Planned 3 Miles

I feel pretty comfortable having this plan mapped out for the week.  Looking forward to being home, seeing family and friends, and having a holiday that is not COMPLETELY about food.

*As I was drafting this post, I decided to browse a few Ohio gym websites and just signed up for a 3 day guest pass at the downtown YMCA.  So I guess elliptical and/or treadmill in my future!

F^3 (x2) Half Marathon Training: Week 2

11.12-11.18 = Second week of training for the F^3 Half Marathon is in the books!

Monday = Strength and stretch day.  My goal this training season is to be better about my strength training, and run strong.  Today I did my yoga dvd and strengthening-core exercises.
Tuesday = 3 miles with the Six Drumsticks series
Wednesday = DOR
Thursday = 3.8 miles on the treadmill.
Friday = 2 miles outside.
Saturday = 5.6 miles with the training group.  Scheduled for 5, went a little further to hit our water stop.
Sunday = 2nd DOR (again).

Not really happy that I took two rest days this week because I am feeling much better.  Sunday was supposed to be a cross training day, and the fitness center was closed at work, which I wasn’t initially expecting.  I ended up having a really productive laundry and cooking evening, though so I’m not too concerned.  The upcoming holiday week could be a challenge, but I am going to try to stay on top of my training.  Looking forward to Thursday’s Turkey Trot!

F^3 (x2) Half Marathon Training: Week 1

11.05-11.11 = First week of training for the F^3 Half Marathon!

Monday = 3 Miles (straight off the plane from Vegas!)  Fast paced, too!
Tuesday = DOR/DOStanding at the Obama Election Headquarters
Wednesday = 3.3 on Treadmill
Thursday = SICK DOR.  I pushed myself way too hard this week and hit a serious wall after the TM on Wednesday.
Friday = Yoga
Saturday = 4 miles.  First group run, with the 11:30s this time.
Sunday = 2nd DOR

I spent the weekend in Vegas visiting my BFF!  We had a lot of fun catching up, and maybe a little too much fun on the Vegas Strip!  I went straight from the airport to training kick-off, and almost as soon as I got there, we headed out for our fun run.  It’s great to get back in to a groove!  This was a quick paced run, I think we were close to 10:45.

Tuesday was Election Day, and I had to make sure I voted!  I ended up skipping my group run because I had tickets to get in to the Obama Campaign election night party, so no exercise Tuesday (and also no sleep…  home at 3a.m.).  After work Wednesday, I hit the treadmill and ended up SO sick after.  Knocked flat on my bum the rest of the weekend.

I did get out for the group run on Saturday, though.  Started off with a great 4 mile run.  And a really good group of runners and leaders.  Excited to be back out there again.  🙂  My goal is to stick to the training schedule (and to work on post-run stretching.)  So far…  not perfect, but workin’ on it.

6 Drumsticks Series: Run #5

Date: Tuesday, November 13
Location: The Fireplace Inn.
Distance: 3 miles.
Time: 33ish minutes!

No photos for tonight’s run!  It was a good one, we went to North Ave, and ran south to Oak St. Beach.  I was still feeling sluggish during this run, and had to stop on the way back to catch by breath.  It was one of those “I don’t wanna” days where I realized how much of a pain it is to stay motivated to run in the cold.  After about a mile, my chest was tight and I was having a harder time catching my breath.  Was also at a faster pace than I’m used to, and didn’t take a lot of time to ease in to the run.  I have had a really good time with 6 Drumsticks this fall though, and I think the Six Series are a part of my running year now!

This Tuesday is our last run!  Turkey Trot on Thursday!!

6 Drumsticks Series: Run #3

Date: Tuesday, October 29
Location: Hidden Shamrock
Distance: 3 miles
Time: 30 minutes

Post Run Pumpkins
Post Run Pumpkins

Tuesday was a strange weather day…  Because of Hurricane (Super Storm?) Sandy coming in, the run was moved off of the lake front, and arranged in loops around the Lincoln Park neighborhood.  Not the most ideal course, but major thumbs up to CARA for being on top of things.  It was a great route.

I went for three miles tonight, and it was a little chillier than expected.  Oh, and also other than expected, I had no sports bra with me.  So…  that happened.  It was slightly uncomfortable.  But, no pain no gain, right?  I kept a pretty speedy pace for this run, and felt great when it was over.

And then… Chili and pumpkins and Rocky Horror Picture Show.  A decent Halloween night!

But still no raffle!
