Breakfast Week: Wednesday

Rainy day = oatmeal day! I have a love/hate relationship with oatmeal. And I’m very picky about texture, so there’s a fine line between perfect and ruined oatmeal for me. I tried quick oats, Quaker Instant, Trader Joes, but my favorite has to be Better Oats Oat Fit Maple & Brown Sugar. It’s low in points and I have the water to oatmeal ratio down pat, thanks to the measuring line on the pouch!

1 packet Better Oats OatFit: 3PPs
1 tsp sunflower oil: 1PP
1 cup skim milk: 2PPs
1/2 sliced apple: 0PPs

Oatmeal is a great meal to sneak your oils into; once it’s blended you have no idea it’s there. I use the lighter oils in oatmeal, but olive oil adds a great nutty flavor too. (In case you do not follow Weight Watchers, Good Health Guidelines for the program indicate 2tsps of healthy oils added to your diet may help you lose weight.).

Oatmeal is great because you can really add anything to it. My favorites include:
1/2 cup blueberries
1tsp brown sugar
1 tsp slivered almonds
1 tsp chopped walnuts
Handful (14-16) pistachios
1 tbsp honey
1 tbsp maple syrup
1/2 cup unsweetened apple sauce
Cinnamon
2 large chopped dates
1 tbsp raisins
